Malbork Castle (Zamek w Malborku) is a 13th-century brick fortress in northern Poland, built from 1274 by the Teutonic Order on the east bank of the Nogat river. Originally named Marienburg after the Virgin Mary, it became the Order's headquarters from 1309 and the largest brick castle in the world by land area — roughly 21 hectares of fortified ground across three concentric zones (Low, Middle, and High Castle).
